Lots of us have been patiently waiting for someone to get offshore and report back what might still be hanging around in the canyons. The wait ended today when the crew of the Boss Hogg out of Sunset Marina headed out and returned with an awesome report. Boss Hogg found the water in the Washington Canyon and boxed six yellowfin tuna and a nice wahoo. That is a great sign that there are still fish around and the long blow didn’t impact the fishing too badly. The offshore weather looks fishable through at least Friday so we may have some more boats heading out to get in on this action. Thanks to the crew at Sunset Marina for the photo!
There has been some really good fishing for tautog, sheepshead and flounder in the back bays the past few days despite the dirty water conditions. Today Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service fished the east channel with squid strip baits and had 25 throwback flounder and two keepers. The two keepers may have turned into lunch faster than I’ve ever seen.
Dave Messick just finished our latest episode of Hooked on OC that includes some great action from the Reel Direct with Captain Brandon Speilman and mates Kayvan Bahrami and Bobby Fletcher. You can check out the interviews and awesome fishing below. Check out the show every Sunday at 7:30 AM on WMDT TV 47, our local ABC affiliate.
