With the way the weather has been lately today’s sunny skies and light winds were a welcomed change in Ocean City and surrounding areas. Raking my yard this afternoon it was actually very nice out once the clouds broke and the sun shone through. It was chilly with temps in the mid 40s, but there was definitely a feeling of spring in the air. Once we set our clocks ahead tonight it will feel even more like spring starting tomorrow.
Lots of anglers have had the rods and reels put away for the winter and as the temps start to rise more and more of them are heading to their favorite fishing spot to get “on the board” for 2019. When I say “on the board” I’m referring to getting that first fish under your belt for the season….it certainly is a good feeling. Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing got the boat on the board for 2019 yesterday when he took her out to the Nanticoke river for some catfishing with his lovely daughter Alivia. Alivia broke the ice for 2019 on Dad’s boat with a big 35″, 20 pound blue catfish that was enticed by a cut bait. Nice work Alivia!!
My good friend and inventor of the Deadly Double and Croaker Smoker rigs Dale Timmons has been spending some time in Florida and today he had a great day of fishing from the beach in Jensen Beach. I’m certain Dale used his own rigs to nab some nice pompano and kingfish from the Florida surf. Pretty work buddy….I’ll see you up here for some flounder soon!!
Speaking of Dale’s Deadly Double and Croaker Smoker, we were able to bring them back and they are for sale in plenty of time for flounder season. You can currently pick them up at Atlantic Tackle in West Ocean City or Raceway Citgo on route 50 in Berlin. If you live out of the area you can order them online at the link below and we’ll ship them to your door.

Eric Sexton and crew were on the board today too…..literally. Eric fished the Nanticoke river as well and put some nice white and yellow perch on the “board”.
