After the ocean laid down from yesterday’s blow, we had a really nice ocean to head out on for the first day of black sea bass season in Maryland and Delaware.  Although it wasn’t quite what most would have hoped for on the first day of the season, there was some very good fishing and some big fish ended up in coolers.

I had the pleasure of heading out with Captains Brett and Damian on board the War Horse out of Indian River for a new episode of Hooked on OC and was joined by special guests Bryan Mindte of Sunset Provisions and Lloyd Whitehead of Harborside Bar And Grill.  We had a great time catching over 40 keeper sea bass and I even lucked into a 19.5″ flounder as my last fish of the trip.  Bryan and I used the Deadly Tackle Deadly Squidly to do our damage on the sea bass and my flounder.  It was a great trip with some great folks and should make a great new episode of the show!  Isn’t that great?!

Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service started sea bass season out strong with a box full of fish for Captain Mark Hoos of the Marli, Mark Hoos Jr. of BPS Dumpsters and Chris Cropper of CC Customs and crew.

Captain Willie Zimmerman of the RoShamBo had a great day on the sea bass opener with 60 keepers for his group.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler had a great day of sea bass fishing today with loads of fish up to a big 4.25 pounds!

Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides had a crazy good day of fishing today for his crew.  Captain Chase put his folks on 23 tautog with 6 over 10 pounds up to 17, 8 golden tilefish, 30 sea bass, 3 dusky shark releases and a mako shark release.

Ashley Ryan put together a beautiful catch of sea bass today.

Big Bird Cropper and Jon Wittmyer of Crabs to Go had a blast catching and releasing some short rockfish in the back bay today.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star opened up sea bass season with some great fishing and a couple of limits on board.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing was on the river last night and showed his shooters a good time with gar and some big snakeheads.
