It was a little chilly and the wind picked up this afternoon a little, but overall it was a very nice day to be on the water. The jetties are jumping with sheepshead, tog and flounder right now and there are also some flounder, drum, bluefish and rockfish being caught. It’s a great time of year to go fishing.
I had the pleasure of joining Dan and Shaunna Cavey on board the Lucky Break with Captain Jason Mumford today and we had a fantastic trip. Dan and Shaunna both caught their first ever sheepshead and tautog today and I lucked into my personal best sheepshead too at 7 pounds and just under 21″. We ended up with seven nice keepers for the box and released some small sheep and tautog as well. It should make for an awesome episode of Hooked on OC in the coming weeks.

Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters is so mad at flounder that he went and caught his limit by himself today. All fish were caught on jigs and were between 18″ and 22″.

Ryan Ellerman caught a 30″ keeper rockfish and Mr. Leo caught and released a 37″ over slot rockfish while fishing the route 50 bridge last night.
