Pit N Pub

Pit N Pub

This winter has felt longer then usual.  And colder.  And windier.  Four Nor’Easters in four weeks.  We’re ready for warm temps.  Just as I’m sure you all are.  Scott’s been gone more then he’s been home the last few months with all the fishing trade shows & Ryan & I have just been business as usual.  We’ve been getting our rods & reels ready to go for the new 16 1/2” flounder that will be going in the box very soon!

And hitting the Bass ponds just to be able to throw a line into the water while we wait for the bay temps to warm up.

The town is starting to wake up & our buddies over at the Oceanic Pier are open again.  Scott, of course, will keep you up to date with his reports as we get them.  Our friends at the local tackle shops who closed for the winter are back open too.  This time of year is always exciting as we anxiously prepare our boat, prep our tackle & wait for the reports to start rolling in.  The Fish in OC skiff is going in the water early next week.

After the blizzard in January, I started thinking about getting a four wheel drive vehicle.  So I ended up going back to visit my buddy John Bollen at Luxury Motors of Rehoboth & walked away with this beauty.  Look for us on the beach this summer trying our hand at surf fishing on Assateague.  Or just goofing off, not sure which.  Dale T.- if you’re reading this, we’re gonna need your help as you know we don’t surf fish, but we plan to try!  🙂

And we will be delving more regularly back into our local community highlighting many of the wonderful restaurants, hotels & things to do in OC while you’re down here fishing.  I’m so excited to tell you about a new place that I have just tried for the first time.  I’m also going to tell you how mad I am at myself for waiting this long to go there… Pit N Pub.

There are two locations of the Pit N Pub in Ocean City, MD.  One on 28th  street & the other in North Ocean City on 127th.  Both restaurants have the same menu, but my particular experience I’m going to describe was at the Northside location.

The Northside restaurant is unassuming from the outside & resembles your typical pub on the inside.  The bar area was full as we walked in & the food tables filled in and were all full by the time we left.  As always, we didn’t tell the owners we were coming to the restaurant.  We prefer to “get what we get” & let you know what our experience was like.  We had a tag team waitress/bartender combo named Lauren & Sam.  Both were super friendly & great servers.

We knew we wanted wings & Sam recommended we try their house specialty “Honey Old Bay” wings.  The wings came to the table steaming hot & were the most perfect combination of spicy & sweet with a crispy outside.  The meat inside was super tender.  I’m going to rate these wings as one of the best I’ve ever had.  No joke.

Scott wanted to try the Carribbean Pork Tacos appetizer described as smoked pork tacos sautéed with jerk seasonings & a mango-habanero sauce, topped with shredded cabbage & carrots.  These little tacos were pulled pork perfection.  Seasoned perfectly with a blend of sweet, spicy & crunchy.  I can’t wait to eat them again.

I ordered the Cobb Salad for my dinner.  It had chicken, tomato, bacon, egg, avocado & crumbled bleu cheese over fresh greens.  It was delicious too.  Every single bite of that salad was delicious & fresh.

Now to get to the best part of this whole dinner.  I actually said to Scott, “This dinner has been outstanding, but your dinner was really special.”  He ordered the Chicken Pot Pie.  Talk about making an entrance.  The server walked out with this giant plate piled high with a pillowy puff pasty of perfection & everyone stopped what they were doing to admire this dish.  It was remarkable to see, but even more remarkable to taste.  There was so much on the plate that we both ate from his dish & he had half left over for the next day.  We highly recommend this dish.  Seriously, we considered going back the next day for a repeat of this entire meal.

So I highly recommend that you check out either Pit N Pub location.  They have a wide selection of food & I can’t wait to try their rib & chicken combo next time.  They are open daily & specialties include house smoked brisket, pork, chicken, ribs, & wings with hand-crafted sandwiches, home-made sides, fresh salads & a children’s menu.  Check out their full menu at pitandpub.com.  Enjoy!

Lastly, here’s the latest Hooked on OC episode with Scott fishing at the bass pond if you haven’t checked it out already.  Hope to see you around town or out on the water!
