What is good news for those of us living in and around Ocean City is terrible news for those that live in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. Ocean City is no longer in hurricane Matthew’s projected path so it looks like we are in the clear and some guys are even saying it may be fishable offshore tomorrow. After that, Matthew will be churning the Atlantic and we’re looking at 20 + knots into early next week, and that’s if the forecast ends up being right. Keep the folks in Hurricane Matthew’s path in your prayers and if you live in his path and you’re reading this…be safe.
I had a fishing report come in from the other side of the planet in the southern hemisphere today that I thought was pretty cool. My buddy Jeff Coats of Fish in OC inshore charter boat Pitboss Fishing is visiting the Gold Coast of Australia with his fiancé Karen Kelly and #enjoying a wonderful time. Today Captain Jeff and Karen fished out of the Tweed River Bar and caught snapper, pearly perch, flathead and blue morwong. These are some really cool looking fish and according to Captain Jeff, delicious eats.
Waaaaaaay closer to home, Bear at the Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City is still seeing some nice fish come in every day. Today it was Amber Smoker with a nice tautog from the sea wall and her mentor Jeff from Baltimore, MD with two keeper rockfish from the route 50 bridge. Jeff also released another 10 fish that were keeper size on Zoom artificial baits.
