There are a record number of 160 boats fishing in the 23rd Annual Captain Steve Harman’s Poor Girls Open this weekend. This is a fish one of three day event so the math on fishing days is easy. Only 29 boats of the 160 entered fished today so that leaves a total of 131 to fish tomorrow and Saturday. It was a surprisingly busy day at the scales at Bahia Marina today with lots of nice fish coming to the scales. This is what the leader board looks like after day 1.

The Poor Girls got a visit from special guest Governor Larry Hogan today. I was able to get the only “Governor Selfie” of the day.
Away from the tournament, the party boat fleet continued to pound on the flounder. The Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak had good flounder fishing today with multiple four fish limits. The largest fish of the day was just over 4 pounds.
Captain Monty Hawkins on the party boat Morning Star had some good luck with the flounder today as well. Captain Monty put anglers on flounder, mackerel and one nice mahi.
The Ocean Princess with Captain Victor Bunting has been having great luck on the ocean lately. Nice sea bass and flounder are keeping anglers busy and even some spadefish and triggerfish have come over the rail.
The bay is full of throwback flounder and Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss fishing has been taking full advantage of it. Captain Jeff had his anglers on the Bad Influence catching plenty of flounder on a two hour trip this morning.
