Today was day 1 of the 23rd Annual Captain Steve Harman Poor Girls Open and the ladies really showed us guys what’s up and had a great time doing it. It’s another record breaking year for the Poor Girls Open with 155 boats and over 750 lady anglers vying for over $218,000 in prize money. If the first place white marlin release boat is across the board in this year’s tournament they will win somewhere around $108,000! Here’s what the leaderboard looks like after day 1. Big thanks to my partner in crime Dave Messick of Hooked on OC for the great pics!

Although they didn’t hit the leaderboard today some of the Fish in OC offshore fleet had some good fishing today. The crew of C Boys with Captain Luke Blume and mate Jon Henry had a good day releasing two white marlin today. Liz Wright and her crew had a great day and even had Governor Larry Hogan stand in for their pic.
The Pumpin’ Hard with the Burt boys had a good day of trolling today as well releasing a white marlin and a blue marlin.
The crew of Wrecker with Captain Jeremy Blunt had a good day today as well with two white marlin releases and a spearfish. Captain Jeremy’s wife Jennifer from the Ocean City Fishing Center was able to catch her first spear today and got a cool shot of it all lit up.
Bottom fishing on ocean structure was good today for Captain Chris Mizurak and the crew of the Angler. Captain Chris put his anglers on some decent action for flounder and sea bass on today’s trip.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters reported that there are some bigger flounder moving into the bay lately. Captain Jason has been having good luck north of the route 50 bridge and in the south bay.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing got it done before the clouds rolled in putting his shooter on this big southern ray.
