There is no denying that the inshore fishing right now is absolutely on fire in Ocean City. I got to see it first hand today when we filmed a quick episode of Hooked on OC on a beautiful 24′ Sea Fox center console from Racetrack Marine. They ave leftover 2016 inventory for better than boat show pricing right now. Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service joined me and we fished the route 50 bridge at the very beginning of the outgoing tide. We used strip baits and Gulp to catch one sea bass and 7 throwback flounder….and we only fished an hour and 15 minutes. There were boats catching fish around us too, I just wish we could have stayed a little longer. Captain John says the bite is better for keeper sized fish at the bottom of the outgoing tide.
Webmaster extraordinaire for the Oceanic Pier Bob Haltmeier was at the pier today and smoked the puppy drum. Bob caught 16 shad, two blues, three short stripers, a speckled trout, three short flounder, and five puppy drum that were all 17″ or bigger.
We got a submission through the Hooked on OC Facebook page today from Doug Dashiell with some awesome pics. Doug and his buddy Corey Brown were on the sough jetty last week and had a great day on the sheepshead. The duo combined for four nice sheepshead including a monster 25″ fish on green crabs and sand fleas.
