It was another beautiful February day today….even as I was driving to Suffern, NY. I’ve made it up here for the World Fishing and Outdoor Expo that runs tomorrow through Sunday. I’ll be in booth 608 smack in the middle of the show all weekend. Stop by to pick up the 2018 issue of Fish in OC magazine and sign up for our offshore fishing trip aboard the Spring Mix II.
I got reports from a couple of guys that took advantage of the nice weather today and got out on some of the rockfish that have been hanging at the rout 90 bridge. Today Captain Chase Eberle got the Chasin’ Tides out for some fishing and had a great day at the bridge. Dave, Ken and Keith from Bel Air, MD joined Captain Chase and released a total of 21 rockfish at the route 90 bridge. Ken was the high hook with 9 releases.
Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing enjoyed the day so much yesterday that he had to try it again today. Captain Jeff reported that it wasn’t nothing fancy, but they also had a fun day at the route 90 bridge.
I got a text message today from a good friend saying that Lukas Layton had caught a fish that looked like a mix between a crappie and a largemouth bass so I had Lukas email me the pic. Well Lukas didn’t catch a mix between a crappie and a largemouth bass, but he did catch one of the biggest crappie that I’ve seen on the eastern shore. This monster was caught by Lukas at a local pond and was released before it was weighed or measured. I don’t think it would have beat the current MD state record for crappie at over 4.5 pounds, but it would have hit the board! Nice fish Lukas!
