It was rough in the ocean today! So rough that I only know of a couple of boats that left the inlet and stayed out to fish…..and the report was that it was “rough as”…. It was also rough enough that the Ocean City Marlin Club’s Challenge Cup will be a one day shoot out tomorrow. The forecast is for the wind to lay down and for sea conditions to be nice for the rest of the weekend so I’m sure boats will be out in the canyons tomorrow for an update on the awesome white marlin fishing that’s been going on.
One of the boats that I know of that was in the ocean today was the Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins. Mate Wes Pollitt said that they had a decent bite today, but it was rough. They did have some nice fish caught with one limit of flounder and a few other anglers with three keeper flounder.
It was windy in the back bays as well, but still ok to get out and try it. Captain John Prather on Ocean City Guide Service has been dealing with the tough conditions the past couple of days and is still having some luck. There are some keeper flounder to be had and there are more rockfish showing up around the route 50 bridge and the jetties everyday.
Bear at the Oceanic Pier submitted a photo of Noah from Scaggsville, MD with this pretty 38″ rockfish that he caught last night from under the route 50 bridge.
