Saucy But Doable

Saucy But Doable

It was a volatile weather day today.  It was hot and humid for most of the day with a pretty stiff breeze and that is a recipe for the thunderstorms that are booming outside as I write this at 8:30.  Some of the offshore fleet opted to stay where it was calm as in right in the slip, but some charters and party boats ventured out where Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star said it was, “saucy, but doable.”

The MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos had a really good day out in the canyon today following up their second place stringer finish in the Ocean City Tuna Tournament.  Dave Kaplan of Lewes, Delaware and his crew whacked eight nice yellowfin tunas and an 86 pound bluefin tuna on the MARLI with Captain Mark and mates Michael Butler and Dakota Bitner.

Yesterday Captain Joey Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey found the yellowfin as well and put his crew on five nice fish.

Over the weekend my buddy Curt Presnell had a good day trolling the canyon with his friend David from San Diego, CA.  The crew was two for two on white marlin releases and also boxed a good yellowfin tuna.

Captain Monty Hawkins fished the “saucy” conditions today and put his crew on a nice catch of flounder up to 24″.  Pictured are Larry Gresh of Johnstown, PA, David White of Ephrata, PA, Jayson Hartman of Lancaster, PA and Steve Hammerstone of Lancaster, PA.

Captain Thayer ran the Chasin’ Tides last night and had some good shark action catching and releasing three sand bar sharks and a 6 1/2′ sand tiger shark.  Captain Chase was on board this afternoon for some throwback rockfish action where they released 15 fish.

Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service had a couple of trips in the bay today with success.  Captain John put his crews on some good keeper flounder fishing while drifting Gulp baits.

The Calico Jack has had some good flounder action in the back bays of Ocean City as of late.  Captain Mike Giardina loves to put kids on the action and did today with some quality flounder.

Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing was at it again today as Captain Marc Spagnola found some clean water and some good shooting with some southern and cow nosed rays.
