I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas out there!! The wind has blown for the past few days which was actually good timing because not many anglers were going to be on the water with Christmas going on. Thankfully the wind laid down for today to allow some guys to get out and see if the rockfish that were here for a good part of last week were still around. The striper migration takes several weeks depending on current conditions and wind, and we have to consider ourselves fortunate when they decide to go by Ocean City inside three miles.
Ricky Adkins and his crew were out on the rip again today for some post Christmas rockfishing. Ricky, Joe Chopa, Thad Palmer and Tim Barnett trolled Mojos and did some jigging right out in front of Ocean City inlet to catch over 20 rockfish some of which were slobs! The crew kept four fish. The biggest was caught by Tim Barnett and was 51″ long and weighed in at a slobby 47.85 pounds! Pretty work fellas! You can see from the final photo that when you find the birds, you’ll probably find some fish.
