Snappin’ Today

Snappin’ Today

It was an absolutely beautiful day today in Ocean City and where I was a little more than 60 miles off the beach with Captain Kyle Peet of the No Quarter filming a new episode of Hooked on OC.  The wind did kick up this afternoon and made our ride home a bit bumpy, but while we were out there it was really nice and the fishing was good.  We tagged along with Paul, Vikki and Justin Ropp on their family charter and had a great time documenting some of their first white marlin ever.  All in all we were four for six on white marlin releases and the footage should make for a great show in the near future.

There was some other good billfishing done today by some other crews as well.  Captain Joe Drosey and the crew of Rhonda’s Osprey had a killer day going 7 for 9 on white marlin releases.

Captain Corey Kennington on the Boss Hogg sent this photo of a nice day where the “Hogg” went four for five on white marlin and also boxed a small mahi and a nice bigeye that was caught on a white marlin rod.

Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Ayrton “The Kayak Kid” Pryor of the Spring Mix II had a nice day putting three anglers on their very first white marlin releases while fishing the Poor Man’s Canyon.

Captain Jeremy Blunt of the Wrecker had a good day with some meat fish when he dropped a pile of mahi and a couple of nice triggerfish in the box.

The ocean going party boat fleet had a crazy good day of flounder fishing today as they reported that they were snapping really well.  Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler had several four fish limits around the rail with some two keeper double headers and also some nice mahi caught while casting on the surface.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star also reported great fishing today.  Morning Star had 4 flounder limits today.  Mike Thode of Finksburg, MD won the pool with a 20.5 incher – Cory Morgan of OC had a very fine 19.5 inch cbass – also pictured are Troy Ecker of Jessup – Joe Smith of Millsboro – Chuck Hazel of Georgetown, DE – Steve & Johnny Harris of Baldwin, MD – Josh Yarber of Denton – plus Kristina Salvarola – Michael Haseman – & Julie Maugins all of OC.  Fish were caught on squid, clam, Gulp, & cut bait over artificial reef.

Blake Gunther of the Ocean City Fishing Community landed himself a nice flounder today and then promptly took a picture with his adorable son.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing was literally hunting from dusk to dawn last night when he put some shooters on some needle nose gar and some good snakehead action.  Then today it was back to the bay where he laid the smackdown on some cow nosed and southern rays.

Here is a quick update from Blume’s Balloon Round Up…..Joshua and Emily have now collected 1,134 balloons from anglers cleaning them from the ocean smashing their goal of 1,000 by the end of the summer.  Keep them coming!!
