Some Cobia and Yellowfin in The Ocean

Some Cobia and Yellowfin in The Ocean

I hear we had some beautiful weather back home today as I write tonights Daily Angle from Yarmouth, Massachusetts.  Tomorrow is the first day of our annual flounder fishing trip to Nantucket Shoals and I couldn’t be more excited!  But there’s also fish to report…

Captain Chris Watkowski and the crew of the Spring Mix II had a great day of trolling today with seven healthy yellowfin tuna for the fish box.

This group had a good day on the Boss Hogg with Captain Brian Porter putting four yellowfin tuna on the dock at Sunset Marina.

Landon Derbyshire landed this nice yellowfin tuna at the tip of the Poorman’s Canyon.

Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had a fantastic day with some catch and release cobia action.  Captain Dave put his anglers on 6 cobia between 30″ and 35″.

Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters was able to find a cobia for this lucky angler today.

Anglers fishing on Lucky Break Charters with Captain Jason Mumford had a great day with the bluefish today catching a pile up to 6.5 pounds.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported good action for his All State Construction crew, you just had to weed through the shorts.

The Judith M out of Bahia Marina has been having some luck on the past couple of trips with sea bass and a couple of flounder being caught.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star enjoyed flat calm sea conditions on today’s trip.

Not a breath of air this morning on the drive in. Tree-protected fields lay fully shrouded by a low mist in dawn’s glooming. Just before we tied her loose that same mist first covered the water, then filled to a full fog. Lookouts, radar–a horn; the mariner’s bane soon lifted to the horizon though and revealed calm waters just as far.
A quick stop at Capt Bob’s Reef allowed Hurricane to garner some reef building karma.
I honestly didn’t think Hurricane’s skunk-luck could be cast aside, but we indeed witnessed good reef karma for the portly prince of all things loaded w/sugar.
Even better? No one tied a rope to his Royal Rotundity’s ankles to try and make it look like he’d been paid to do a hit on himself. One would have to conclude there’s some luck somewhere there too.
Would he really be high hook today?
Mercy..
Main thing is Capt. Bob’s Reef now has 4,586 reef blocks and 102 reef pyramids. That makes 41,799 blocks for the program and 2,248 pyramids.
As ever – we pressed on.
At first my anglers found very few cooperative sea bass – those we caught had sand eels in em. After a while almost everyone was jigging – then they began biting bait and we saw krill..
Whhhhaaaattt…
No Matter. So long as we cipher the bite? All’s well.
Certainly not a red hot day – nor was it bad.
Kelvin doesn’t ask anything of luck. He just catches. Boxed the pool winner and dropped right back for another..
But Hurricane? He really was high hook. To have overridden his luck? May be something to this reef builder’s karma thing. Sure see it often enough..
Sure couldn’t tell it on here last week though with a blown engine!
Now we’re back in the fray.
Cheers,
Monty
Night or day, it doesn’t matter, Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing his going to put his shooters on the action.
Caleb Powell, Mitchell Ferrell, and kellan mcaleer caught 6 keeper flounder in the back bay today on white Gulp.
Had some fun with the kids and caught some keepers on the Bay Bee….Check it out!
