It was a beautiful, warm, slick calm day today and anyone that wasn’t prepping for Christmas today did a little fishing. It wasn’t many, but it was enough to have a little report. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas tomorrow!!
Captain Kane Bounds and the crew of Fish Bound have been having some luck over the past couple of trips with the bottom settling down after last week’s storm. Some nice fish have broken off to see another day, but some big ones have made it to the boat to as big as 14 pounds. Most all of the big fish are released to swim again.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star took a short paddle in today’s beautiful weather and put his folks on a few tautog.
Tied her loose intending a short day of toggin. Wish I’d have scheduled a run to the deep instead. Light current and almost no sea sure made a pleasant day off there. About as perfect a calm as you could ask. Ah well, Christmas eve isn’t for fishing..
George and his Grandson helped build up an old reef with today’s twenty blocks. That makes 41,008 reef blocks dropped off the stern of my boat. Still lots of folks saying “Can’t”.. Wish they’d try instead. If a lot of boats did there’d soon be a lot more reef. Crazy way more.
Nothing stellar about today. Vic saw two dandies bust off – way of it with these bucktooth scoundrels. Courtney’s favorite Uncle, JoJo, could have boxed a limit. Chose to put em back instead.
Dan took the pool with the second longest tog aboard – gotta play to win!
We run our tog pool by length so folks can release em if they’d like.
Might be another sea bass trip before they close.
Maybe.
After that? It’s all tog for a stretch.
