After several chilly, pretty crappy days we had a nice weather day today in Ocean City and surrounding and some of us were able to get out and bend a rod…..yes I said some of US.
I had the opportunity to fish with my good friends Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing and Wes Pollitt of the Morning Star for an upcoming episode of Hooked on OC. The rockfish were snapping before the blow so we decided to give that a try and see if we could catch enough fish for a show. It was a quick ride to the route 90 bridge in Captain Jeff’s boat and we had our first fish just a few minutes after setting up. We used a combination of jig heads with shad bodies and Big Bird’s Roy Rig to catch over a dozen school sized rock and managed to have an awesome time while we were at it. Captain Jeff is glad to run this trip right so give him a buzz if you’re interested.
Captain Jeff’s better half got out of work early so Pitboss Fishing was back on the water again this afternoon to take advantage of the even better weather conditions. Captain Jeff and Karen caught a few more fish on the Roy Rig and as always were #enjoying the afternoon.
My buddy Ayrton Pryor of Spring Mix II was on the bay today with his friend Jacob Lewis and had a crazy day night of fishing. Ayrton and Jacob fished north of route 90 in open water around the marshes and landed 49 rockfish on jig heads and swim shads. The biggest fish was 27″….just a bit outside!
Even though super mate Wes was fishing for rockfish with us, Captain Monty and the Morning Star still found a way to have a productive day on the water…..(sarcastic smirk) Captain Monty reported tough anchoring conditions and decent fishing with one true tog ninja having a limit of four fish. Below, Chris the tog ninja, from Lewes, DE, Rich from Princeton, NJ and Dae from Northern Virginia display some of the nice fish from the trip.
Captain Monty will be announcing upcoming tog trips so keep an eye on his website if you’re interested in getting on board.
