We had another unseasonably warm day today in Ocean City, but the sun was shining and the humidity wasn’t too bad so it was another nice one. Most of the offshore fleet took the day off today, but they are going tomorrow and Friday and I’m sure there will be mahi and marlin on the line.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star took a 12 hour trip today to get a little further from the dock and the trip ended up being well worth it. Captain Monty ended the day with triggerfish, flounder and a boat limit of nice sea bass. One client was throwing back 15″ sea bass and still kept her limit. The fish pool winner was Kevin Dougherty of Bethany Beach, DE with his 20.5 inch Flounder – Cathy Creel of OC ahead the biggest sea bass and trigger, 19 & 17 respectively – Also pictured are Lawrence Winston of Columbia, MD – Patrick Mulcrany of Harrisburg, PA – Tom & Josh Grover of Annapolis- & Julie Maugins of OC.
Big Bird Cropper got out to fish in the bay today and he and Redbeard had a decent day on the flounder. Bird and Beard fished the outgoing tide and put three keepers in the box.
Yesterday the crew of Distraction with Captain Aaron Lifson. Aaron, Dave Schulte, jesse constantino, sam niccollete, jon “hoss” bobby spivey had a great day in the Washington canyon putting a load of mahi on the dock and adding some blackfin tuna as well.
My buddy Eric Sexton took a trip with the boys to Oregon Inlet, NC where they got in on some inshore action catching more than 30 speckled trout and a baby cobia. Eric fished with Benny Bennington and Brian Pearce on the trip.
