We’ve hit a little stretch where the wind hasn’t blown too hard over the past several days and it looks like we’ve got some warmer temperatures this week to make things even more enjoyable.
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about bluefin tuna since the first of the year when the harvest season opened back up for them and I’m afraid the news is mixed. There have been a few fish around, but they are very spread out with both school sized fish and some larger fish in the mix. I saw one nice fish over 60″ from Friday and a few smaller fish over the weekend. Captain Dale Lisi and his crew from Foolish Pleasures caught this bluefin on Saturday, but reported it was their only bite.
Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had a nice day of tautog fishing today with several nice fish coming aboard up to 16 pounds. He also had a surprise flounder that ended up in the fish box as well.
