The weather in Ocean City has left something to be desired the past few days with wind, rain and cool temperatures. The rain finally stopped….for the time being…..yesterday, and the wind laid out last night. This morning the rain and wind weren’t the issue, but man was it foggy!
The fog didn’t stop the crew of the Nauti Girl from venturing out the inlet to do some tautog fishing today. Captain Wes Pollitt and mate Nick Denny put Adam Glushakow, Carrie Cox, Sue Cox and Clark Cox on six nice keeper tautog, several throwbacks and also released several keeper females that were full of eggs. Thanks to Nick Denny for the awesome pics too!
Nick has had fish on the mind lately and took advantage of the clearing conditions yesterday evening to put his kayak in the water and do some fishing. Nick was rewarded with this nice 20″ flounder that he caught while drifting behind Assateague Island. The nice flattie fell prey to a jig head tipped with a Gulp 4″ swimming mullet.
Matt Ellis also took advantage of the break in the weather yesterday afternoon and decided to do some bottom fishing in the back bay. Matt used “white legger” crabs to catch a couple of 17″ and 18″ keeper tautog and a beautiful sheepshead….the first I’ve seen this year. Matt estimated the sheepshead at approximately 8 pounds.
