That’s A Lot of Bigeyes

Check out the Daily Catch at Sunset Marina featuring the Kid’s Classic Tournament!

It’s raining again right now and the wind blew up some this afternoon, but other than that it was a pretty nice day inshore.  The ocean was a little rough for comfort, but it was still doable and there were plenty of fish caught.

Captain Anthony Matarese, Sr. was at the helm when the meat haul below was caught by the crew of the Reel Chaos fishing out of Sunset Marina.  Captain Anthony Matarese, Jr. and the rest of the crew worked this impressive catch of six big fish between 125 and 144 pounds.  Awesome day of fishing!

Captain Nick Sampson and the crew of MobSquad Fishing has had some good inshore ocean fishing over the past couple of days.  MobSquad has put their anglers on mahi and keeper flounder two days in a row.

Jim Daniel, Joe Ungvarsky, Tim Sexton, Scott Meyer, McElhinny and Bill Hammond had a good day fishing on the private boat Double Shot catching two nice longfin tuna weighing 60 and 65 pounds.

Alexandria Platt from Houston, TX was fishing on board the Ocean Princess with Captain Victor Bunting when she landed this awesome 30 pound cobia.

Capitan Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had another good day of flounder fishing with lots of throwbacks and some keepers for the cooler.

These guys had a fun trip with Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters putting some “snapper” bluefish in the cooler.

I had a fun trip fishing with Jeremy Kohr of Kohr Crabbing Supplies today catching a bunch of throwback flounder with this one 18.5″ keeper.  All were caught on chartreuse, orange and pink Deadly Tackle Deadly Doubles.

Mikey Orchulli lll, 6 yrs old from Glen Mills Pa. Caught this 17.5” flounder on a Deadly Double with white gulp on the out going tide today in the east channel along with a bunch of shorts. He was fishing with his family on the Reel Addiction.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star found the ocean a little rougher than expected today, but he still put fish in the boat.

Flags fluttering? Hmmm.. they were supposed to be lightly luffing in less than ten knots of wind – Dang it.
Sure enough, underway we found a somewhat angrier ocean than forecast. That happens.
Have a half sold mahi trip tomorrow. Light rain? Super calm – supposed to be!!
Brady dropped a pair of pyramids at Calder’s Reef. From there we carried east with abundant whitecaps topping a somewhat robust chop. Every now and again seas would match up and double in height.
Fishing was generally a struggle punctuated by a few nice keepers. Unless you count searobins. They bit pretty well!
Hurricane Murray, on temporary release from his lead lined anti-storm karma room, found himself fishing between Ms Holly & Cathy today.
They’re all friends. Have fished together long years.
But today?
Today the girls delivered a merciless shellacking to everything Murray knew about fishing. I kept hearing cooler lids closing on that part of the rail ..ahh, but sadly with little Y chromosome involvement.
Perhaps I exaggerate a bit – just a touch..
But still: Poor Murray.
They did let him catch two.
Bill from up Chester MD, didn’t pay those shenanigans to stb any mind at all and boated El Mas Grande por la Dia! (Rusty Spanish!!)
Despite nice fish around the rail, his was a no contest winner of nearly 5lbs.
Tomorrow? C’mon Mahi!
Cheers
Monty
