The offshore fleet was on the chunk today and they absolutely murdered the tuna. There are an abundance of fish in Massey’s Canyon currently and they are eating some butterfish chunks. I got my first report this morning at 10:30 AM and it gave me an idea just how good the fishing was today.
Captain Luke Blume on C Boys out of Sunset Marina with mate Jon Henry had an incredible trip today. Captain Luke had owner Paul Crampton and his friends from Hagerstown, MD on board today and he really put them on the fish. C Boys ended the day with 18 yellowfin tuna, one over 47″ bluefin tuna, a nice mahi and released another bluefin tuna. Captain Luke says today was, “the best chunking I’ve seen in a long time”.

Rhonda’s Osprey with Captain Joe Drosey had an incredible day chunking as well today. Captain Joe put his crew on 16 yellowfin tuna, an over 47″ bluefin tuna and a white marlin release.

Tim Gibble and his crew had a terrific overnighter on board Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Ayrton Pryor. Brandon released his first white marlin and the rest of the Gibble crew combined for two tuna, four nice mahi and two shark releases that were estimated at over 300 pounds. Mate Ayrton Pryor worked hard all night and day on this trip to the Washington Canyon.

My Cin with Captain Dave Black was the first back to the dock today when he pulled into his slip at 10:30 AM. The action for My Cin started right away this morning and by 8:30 AM they had boxed 10 yellowfin tuna, one 80 pound bluefin tuna and 3 mahi.

Captain Chris Miller on the Fishizzle put anglers Joe Ferguson and Matt Bahr on their first ever offshore fish. Joe and Matt caught an “under” bluefin and an “over” bluefin that weighed 90 pounds.

Bear from the Oceanic Pier sent in a great photo of 5-year-old Aiden who caught this nice keeper flounder from the pier this morning on their HUGE minnows.
