The Fish Bit

The Fish Bit

We’ve reached the time of year where fishing reports will be hit or miss and will definitely depend on the weather.  Fall brings cool mornings and good fishing, but it also brings stiff winds from the northwest on a more regular basis as Mother Nature prepares to cool things down for the winter.  Forecasting can be tough this time of year and you always need to be prepared for conditions like wind, rain or cold should they arise, but its some of the best fishing of the entire year if you can catch the right day.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star sent me a report from today showing exactly what I’m talking about today as the weatherman said one thing and Mother Nature decided something else.

Hi Scott,
Left in the rain this morning with a super-light rail.  A clearing NW was forecasted – never trust a fall NWster!
Only blew 20-25. Got a little saucy.
Fish bit. Clients did well on sea bass. One fellow limited, couple others close.
Another guy limited on flounder. He’s not in the pic cause he had the helm. (Captain Monty)
Pictured are Peter Radzikowski of Vienna, VA – James Lucas from Washington, DC – Floyd Brown of Frederick, MD – Cheryl Monaco & John Bowman from Bradenton, FL – and Kevin Dougherty of Bethany Beach, DE.

Captain Brad McCabe of Bay Time Charters posted up a nice flounder from his trip today.  Fish are still here in good numbers and can be found around the route 50 bridge and the inlet on Gulp baits, live minnows, bunker and mullet.
