I actually got to go fishing myself today! My friend Paul, my wife and myself got to head out about 9:30 to try some of this Flounder fishing that has been so good. We couldn’t have timed the tide more perfectly, as we caught the last part of the incoming and fished the east channel just north of the Rt 50 bridge. No keepers for us, but we did have 7 throwbacks on Gulp 4″ swimming mullet in white. The fishing was good and the wind was light, all around a really nice morning until about 11:45….then CRACKABOOOOM!!! The skies opened up and more than 2 1/4″ of rain fell in less than 30 minutes. Thank goodness we had made it to Harborside!! Captain John Prather on the Ocean City Guide Service saw what I’m talking about!
Offshore the action was hit or miss but some of our fleet still had some luck.
The Boss Hogg out of Sunset Marina with Captain Josh Ruskey and mate Mike Runk had an exceptional day today catching a 186 pound Bigeye tuna, one nice Dolphin, 40 Tilefish and 20 nice Sea Bass in the Washington canyon. They are getting to be quite the deep drop specialists.
Captain Jeremy Blunt and mate Brian Behe on board the Wrecker fishing out of the Ocean City Fishing Center had a terrific day of charter fishing today as well. They put their crew on seven Bluefin tuna, keeping two and releasing five and added 4 nice Dolphin for good measure.
Captain Joe Drosey on board Rhonda’s Osprey out of Sunset Marina put his charter on a nice day as well catching his 2nd Wahoo in 3 days and two nice tuna fish.
The Ocean City Marlin Club’s Canyon Kick-Off Tournament starts tomorrow so let’s hope for calm seas and lots of fish. Good luck to you anglers this weekend!
