There weren’t a ton of boats out in the ocean today as it was a little windy and there was a shortage of interested anglers thanks to the upcoming holiday. It’s sort of the calm before the storm the week before the 4th of July…..this week is historically a light participation week for the Ocean City fishing fleet with less crowded offshore waters and plenty of space on the local party boats. Next week…..different story.
One boat that did travel offshore today and was heavily rewarded was the Restless Lady with Captain Todd Kurtz and mate Tito had an awesome day with a rescheduled open boat trip. Jay Johnson, Jeff Reinsfelder, Andrew Camella and the crew of Restless Lady mugged the yellowfin tuna on the lumps inside the Baltimore Canyon around the Hot Dog. The guys boxed a total of 18 nice yellowfin and some mahi for an awesome day of fishing.

Captain Brandon Speilman on the Reel Direct had a good day with the tuna between the Poor Man’s Canyon and the Hot Dog today. Captain Brandon put his crew on seven really nice yellowfin and some gaffer mahi.

It was a little windy on the bay today, but the water clarity was still pretty good. Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service put his anglers on a couple of nice sized bluefish today and a 21″ flounder that was 4 pounds. The big flounder ate a white Gulp in the east channel.

The Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe found a new third place derby fish this afternoon and another keeper for some lucky anglers.

If you’re fishing the east channel and are looking for some good food, some awesome drinks and some terrific views you can check out the article by my better half about our lunch at de Lazy Lizard just north of the route 50 bridge.
