Day 5 of the 2024 White Marlin Open was a pretty uneventful one as we experienced high winds and heaving seas thanks to what’s left of storm Debby rolling by. 17 boats were eligible for fishing today based on lay day forms being submitted, but that number was more than likely zero. The wind blew hard with gusts to well over 30 knots and sea heights at some points were 10′ – 12′ with the highest peaks at 14′.
Scales opened as usual at 4 PM, but as expected, no-one reported in with any fish to weigh. There are a little over 50 fishing days left for tomorrow’s added day which we now know was a great call last week before in-person registration started. Good luck to anyone that fishes tomorrow! We’ll see you live at 4 PM at www.WhiteMarlinOpen.com to finish things up!
Dave Messick of Hooked on OC has been taking some great scales shots all week that will be available for sale at the awards on Sunday afternoon. Here’s who’s leading after 5 days of fishing.
