Today’s offshore action moved from the inshore lumps like the Hambone and Hot Dog areas off to the deep in the Poor Man’s Canyon. Our charter boats had good luck with White Marlin, Dolphin, Yellowfin tuna and one really nice Wahoo. Ballyhoo and spreader bars were once again the baits of choice as trolling continues in front of this weekend’s OC Marlin Club Canyon Kick Off Tournament and next week’s Ocean City Tuna Tournament.
Captain Joe Drosey on board Rhonda’s Osprey out of Sunset Marina had a stellar day fishing in 700 fathoms of the Poor Man’s! Captain Joe put his crew on three Yellowfin tuna, five gaffer Dolphin, a White Marlin release and a real nice 45 pound Wahoo.
The Boss Hogg also out of Sunset Marina had one White Marlin release and an awesome day with the Dolphin. 71 degree water in the Poor Man’s as well made for a bunch of fish tacos!
Captain Rob Skillman on the Moore Bills out of the Ocean City Fishing Center was on the trail of billfish today, and caught up with two White Marlin releases for his efforts.
Inshore the focus of anglers remains on the Flounder fishing. Captain John Prather on the Ocean City Guide Service reports a decent Flounder bite this morning with a lot of throwbacks scattered throughout the bay. He did have two keeper fish from the east channel on white Gulp 4″ swimming mullet. The rest of the afternoon was spent on one of OC Guide Service’s exciting bow fishing trips for rays!
