Check out the new Van Staal spinning reel available at Atlantic Tackle!
We had some wind this morning, buddy! What started as northwest at about 10 quickly turned to northeast at 20 with gusts to 25+ and it made fishing the Thorofare tough. I can tell you because that’s where I was this morning with my buddy Lenny Rudow from Fishtalk Magazine and some of the crew from Fish Hunt Maryland. I wasn’t real optimistic about fishing with the conditions, but the Deadly Double didn’t let us down and we had a couple of throwbacks and two keeper sized flounder. Lenny would be remiss if I didn’t mention that he had the bigger fish….but I did have the most. Fun times!
Captain Jon Azato on the charter boat No Limit fishing out of Indian River Inlet had a great opening day of sea bass on Monday and one of his anglers also caught a big, ugly fish some of you may never have seen before. It’s a monkfish. They are a hard fighter, ugly as hell and delicious to eat. Captain Jon also had a bunch of sea bass with the biggest going over 4 pounds.
Shaun Flaherty hit the south jetty this evening for some Roy Riggin’ and had a heck of a couple of hours of fishing. Shawn caught some snapper sized bluefish and also two big rockfish of 36″ and 37″ that were released. Remember the new slot that started as of yesterday, May 16, 1 fish per person from 28″ to 31″ on the coast.
