It was another hot one today with temps in the middle to upper 90s in most places around the shore. There was a noticeable difference with traffic too. With kids back in school there was way less traffic on the water and I even saw some businesses that have gone to a Thursday through Sunday schedule. Kids may be back to school and the busy season may be over, but there is still some awesome fishing left to go.
Sailfish are not usually a common catch off of Ocean City, but we’ve seen plenty so far this year and several caught just today. The crew of the Fish On with Captain Andrew Dotterweich had a great day in the deep today catching and releasing four white marlin and two sailfish.
Young Avrum Gudelsky was fishing with his dad Rolfe Gudelsky of the Ocean City Fishing Center on board John Gudelsky’s Reel Joy with Captain Andy Helms today when he caught and released his first ever white marlin. Avrum added his first ever sailfish as well for an awesome day offshore. The Reel Joy had an incredible day of trolling with five white marlin releases and two sailfish. Thanks to Dave Messick for the pics!
The crew of Mobsquad Sportfishing had a great day of inshore fishing with some mahi, sea bass and a couple of flounder for their anglers.
Captain Kurt Howell of MidAtlantic Marine Surveying was fishing with his daughter Morgan and his “adopted” daughter Dayton and put the team on a three person limit of fat sea bass. They added a couple of flounder for a great day of bottom fishing.
Captain Kane Bounds of the Fish Bound is repowered and back in the water and doing damage to the flounder and mahi population again. Captain Kane is seeing good fishing with plenty of mahi and sea bass and flounder up to 7 pounds.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported a great day of fishing on calm seas with mahi, sea bass and some nice keeper flounder for his clients.
