We are a mere four days away from the 43rd Annual White Marlin Open and the Ocean City Marlin Club’s Heels and Reels Tournament starts tomorrow. Anglers that are planning on fishing these events are really excited right now because the white marlin bite was insane again today. The bad news is that the body of water that the fish are in is quite a ways offshore, the good news is that it is moving south. Boats had to go northeast almost 100 miles a few days ago just shy of the Lindenkohl Canyon. The fish today were north of the Spencer Canyon. Best case scenario is that the eddy continues to move slightly south and we could possible have fish around the Baltimore and Poor Man’s Canyons. This would even the playing field for the White Marlin Open as smaller boats would be able to access the fish.
Check out the laundry flying at Sunset Marina’s C Dock as shot by Dave Messick of Hooked on OC. He achieved some awesome bokeh from a hot air balloon.
Way inshore of the white marlin bite, there was some pretty good flounder fishing today. The Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins had some keeper flounder today and one mahi. One young angler had a nice double flounder today.
There have been a nice number of mahi being caught on the local party boats recently with the record warm water temperatures in the ocean. The Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak captured a nice mahi today on the rip.
Captain John Prather on the Ocean City Guide Service found some keeper flounder today. Captain John put his anglers on three nice keepers in the south bay on live minnows.
Captain Mark Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had a good day today. Captain Mark put his shooters on some nice southern rays including a nice 66 pounder. Captain Mark also reported letting some smaller rays go to see another day.
