I just got back from registration and Captain’s meeting for the 10th Annual HUK Big Fish Classic and have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised about the awesome turnout considering the weather. 69 boats have registered and will be competing for $746,000 in prize money that will be awarded on Monday thanks to the added window. That added window was a good call as it looks like most, if not all of the 69 boats will be fishing Sunday into Monday. Scales will actually be opening at 3 PM on Monday to allow for what we expect to be a very busy afternoon of action. The weather forecast through Sunday is harsh with winds expected to be 15 – 25 knots and seas of 5-7 feet. Sunday’s forecast calls for winds and seas to subside leaving a very nice day on Monday. If you can’t get there in person you can watch it live at www.BigFishClassic.com
Captain Kane Bounds of the Fish Bound has been doing very well on his trips to the ocean lately. Flounder trips are ending with limits every time and inshore trolling trips in the afternoon for mackerel have been very good as well.
The crew of Bayside Guide Service has a had a great couple of days fishing the route 50 bridge for rockfish and bluefish. Today it was some very nice bluefish and a big 40″ striped bass that was released.
