40 Boats and Over $225,000 in Prize Money

The 4th Annual HUK Big Fish Classic is a go for this weekend and this year will have 40 boats fishing for over $225,000 in prize money.  The Big Fish was originally scheduled for July 28-30, but was postponed until this weekend due to weather.  This is a great turnout and a lot of money considering the uncertainty of this weekend’s early forecast.  Scales action will take place at Talbot Street tomorrow and Saturday from 4 PM until 9 PM and Sunday from 4 PM until 8 PM.  I’ll be the emcee this weekend so make sure you stop by to say hi and see the “Big Fish.”  Here’s a list of who’s fishing….

There were some pretty big fish caught today offshore as boats practiced for the Big Fish Classic.  Zach Morahan, Luke Morahan, Kerry Williams, Eric Cavage and Dustin Cavage caught this big 62 pound yellowfin today with Captain Ed Kauffman and mate Bryan Hazard on board the Jade II.  I spoke with Zach at the Big Fish welcome party and he said he’s a regular reader of the Daily Angle and that he and his guys had a great time today.  Welcome to the Angle Zach!!

Captain Jeremy Blunt of the Wrecker had a fun crew on board today as well and they put a nice 72 pound yellowfin and some mahi in the boat.

Ocean bottom fishing was good for the crew of the Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak today.  Captain Chris put his anglers on some big flounder and one angler even had a four fish limit.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing was in the south bay getting it done today putting his clients on some good shooting for cow nosed and southern rays.

Young Kellen Lloyd was fishing with his dad Travis when he caught this short weakfish and some small bluefish in the east channel north of the route 50 bridge.
