It was the second miserable day in a row in and around Ocean City with rain and cooler than normal temperatures. The wind wasn’t too bad, but it did have some whitecaps on the bay and I’m pretty certain nobody was fishing.
Before the rain moved in on Saturday night there was some pretty good fishing going on in the bay and offshore in the canyons. I had some late reports come in from the weekend that I’m sure some tuna fishermen are going to be excited to hear. Tony Freiji and the crew of Hammer Down ventured out to the Baltimore Canyon on Saturday and had a crazy good day of bluefin tuna fishing. The guys trolled and caught 10 of 12 bites and kept fish of 35″, 42″ and 48″ all by 11:30 in the morning.
Also over the weekend, Steven Sweigert and Lee McCabe fished the Assateague surf and landed 10 bluefish. The fish were all caught on mullet and the largest was a nice 36″ chopper.
We’ve made Big Bird Cropper’s World Famous Roy Rig available online so if you’ve read or seen how good they work and can’t get to one of the locations you can order them at the same price through our website at this link…..Fish in OC.com/shop
