I was fishing the OC Inlet this afternoon and just after 4 PM I saw the Billfisher with Captain Jon Duffie and crew hauling ass right toward me from the east. I got a cool video of them slowing to the 6 MPH buoy and zoomed in to see a white marlin flag right side up. I know that means the fish was boated and on its way to Harbour Island for day 3 scales of the White Marlin Open. A little while later I got the text….Billfisher 72 pound white! It’s not surprising that the Billfisher caught several white marlin today, it’s also not surprising that Billfisher caught a legal white marlin today and it’s not terribly surprising that Billfisher is now in the lead in the White Marlin Open…..they are a world class Captain and crew, fishing a world class boat in the largest billfish tournament in the world…..It’s what they do. Congratulations to Billfisher on landing the only qualifying white marlin so far in the 2025 White Marlin Open and good luck the rest of the week. Here’s who’s leading after three days of fishing. Thanks to White Marlin Open for the pics!

Away from the tournament, Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters was on the prowl for sea bass and he found them for his anglers with a boat limit.

Vaugh, Xavier and Jennifer Hillegass have been having some fun fishing OC this week with some flounder from the Assateague OSV and a great trip on Lucky Break with Captain Jason Mumford that yielded sheepshead, tautog and croaker.
