The calm is going to be short-lived as the wind starts to blow again tomorrow, but it sure was nice today while it lasted. Most of this coming week looks like a wash in the ocean again, but today it was slick calm and there was some good fishing to be had.
My buddy “Irish” was fishing on board the Fish Bound with Captain Kane Bounds and crew when he latched into his personal best flounder ever. Irish’s big flattie weighed in at an even 8 pounds and was the largest of the flounder limit they had on board.
Blake Gunther and Derek Yobst had an awesome day on the flat calm ocean today with several big black drum caught and released, some keeper tautog, a couple of big sea bass and a slot red drum that went in the box. The guys caught their fish on Deadly Tackle bottom jigs with crab baits.
Captain Dale Lisi of Foolish Pleasures had a nice day in the deep today with a pile of mahi and tilefish for his anglers.
Anglers fishing on board the Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak had good fishing today with some very nice sea bass up to 4 pounds and several flounder up to almost 7 pounds.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break had another good day with the bay tautog putting his group on three keepers and loads of throwbacks.
Brian Yakimowicz and Kurt Greening broke in the new boat today with some sea bass and a triggerfish from the African Queen wreck.
Camden Meredith had to weed through a bunch of throwbacks, but his persistence paid off with his first keeper tautog of 17 1/4″.
