We’ve had a little fishing over the past couple of weeks so I thought I’d jump on one last time in 2025 to post a couple of fish pics and reports and wish everyone a Happy New Year. It’s gotten quite cold recently and the wind has blown more than not so not a lot of fishing is going on, but some folks got out for the end of the sea bass season and others have caught some of the migratory stripers that have cruised by. Still others have gotten on some inshore bluefin tuna, but that has been catch and release only this fall and winter. Thankfully that changes tomorrow as the quota for recreational harvest has reset and will open the fishery as of January 1, 2026.
This past weekend the crew of the Ocean Princess got out for their last sea bass trip of the season and there anglers were very, very happy about that. The crew had lots of nice sea bass around the rail with some big fish in the mix along with a few bluefish and tautog.
Captain Chris Watkowski and the crew of the Spring Mix II are wintering down in the Florida Keys and anglers are having a great time in the warmer weather. Spring Mix II is putting some tasty fish in the cooler with mutton snapper, yellowtail and other reef fish biting well.
I’d like to take this time to thank everyone that reads the Daily Angle and follows along with our social media and YouTube and I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We look forward to bringing you photos, reports and videos again in 2026!! We’ll also have some new editions to our Deadly Tackle so keep a look out for that in the coming months.
