Just like the last several days, today started off a little windy. By the time lunch rolled around it had laid down nicely and a short sleeve shirt was all you needed. It was nice to see so many boats out on the bay and getting reports from the party boats that were able to get out on the ocean.
I hit the bay myself today and had a great time catching some tautog, rockfish and a bluefish. I used green crabs at the south jetty on Deadly Tackle tog jigs and caught a few shorts with three keepers to just under 19″. Then I hit the route 50 bridge and caught and released a couple of short striped bass and a decent bluefish.

Blake Gunther of Gunther & Sons and…..sons were out there doing some damage on the tautog today too. They had a bunch of throwback fish on Deadly Tackle jigs and went home with three keeper fish.
Big Bird Cropper was out there fishing today’s beautiful weather and he used Roy Rigs to catch and release some short stripers. The biggest was this fish that was approximately two feet long. 🙂
Brian Reynolds, Sean Hitchens, Tommy O and and Rich Thiel had a nice day of ocean bottom fishing with 22 keeper sea bass, a flounder and two bluefish.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler took a late departure to let the wind settle down and it was a good call. Anglers on board today had plenty of sea bass, some flounder, a few porgy and a nice triggerfish.
