For the second day in a row we saw mild temperatures and calm winds and for the second day in a row Captain Monty Hawkins had the Morning Star out on the ocean in search of some winter tautog. Captain Monty reported that there was still no current to speak of today, but fishing was better than yesterday. Captain Monty’s first text came across at 10:45 with this photo of Dan and Danny with a nice male after just netting him. One client already had a limit by this point.
Just a little while later Captain Monty sent this photo of Bob Key who tagged and released this nice 21″ female.
Overall it was a nice day on the rip. Seas were calm, which is always a bonus, and fishing was pretty good. A couple of fellows had limits of four each and one guy could have had a limit also, but only kept two male keepers. The crew also got to see some marine life in a fin whale and three humpbacks.
