It was an absolutely beautiful day today! Warm temperatures, light winds and not a cloud in the sky. Kristen and I decided to do a little surf fishing down on Assateague Island today where we didn’t even get a bite…..and we didn’t care one bit. It was gorgeous!
Today’s luck for us aside, the Assateague Surf has been on absolute fire for some over the past few weeks. David Moore and the folks he’s been fishing with have had some outstanding fishing with big black drum and now some striped bass showing up in the mix. David had a day last week where he caught 28 black drum in a single trip!

Kristen and I may not have had any luck today, but right up the beach Nick Fleming was fishing with Mike Dzurnak when he caught and released this nice 36″ striped bass on sand fleas and Fishbites.

In more Assateague Surf reporting, Wes Pollitt caught and released this very nice 39″ striped bass yesterday on sand fleas and Fishbites.

Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had a great day for his anglers putting them on some big tautog on the flat calm ocean.

Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had a great weekend for his anglers. Groups had several keeper tautog and flounder on several trips from the OC Inlet.

Donnie Post used a chartreuse Deadly Double in the Thorofare this morning to box this 22″ keeper flounder.
