While I was dropping the Fish in OC knowledge on the folks at the Greater Philadelphia Outdoor Sports Show this past weekend we were blessed with another weekend of incredible weather and some pretty good fishing. We had temperatures in the low 70s again with light winds and no rain all the way through Saturday and anglers were out wetting a line taking advantage of some of the early fishing.
My buddy Eric Sexton was over on the Nanticoke river again and found that the white and yellow perch fishing had improved. Eric did ok on his first trip last week, but he put the kaibosh on them over the weekend. He caught white perch in the Nanticoke and yellow perch on Broad Creek. The white perch fell to bloodworms while the yellow perch were enticed by live minnows. I’m heading over tomorrow with Eric to shoot an upcoming episode of Hooked on OC and I’ll let you know how we do tomorrow.
Another buddy Finn McCabe found some carp over in Ayres Creek between Ocean City and Berlin. All it took was a can of corn and Finn was able to have some great fun with fish up to 25″. He did the best he could with pics with one next to the ruler and another posing for a psycho selfie.
Captain Monty Hawkins and the crew of the Morning Star took advantage of the nice weather to do some more great work for the Ocean City Reef Foundation. Nick Denny took some shots of the deployment which will will help build reef off of the coast of Ocean City. Reef foundation charts are an invaluable resource if you’re a bottom fisherman in Ocean City. You can get them at ocreefs.org
