It was an absolutely beautiful day in Ocean City today! Sunny skies, light winds and temperatures around 80 degrees….I’ll take it all summer. It was the perfect day to get offshore, party boat for some sea bass or hit the bay for some bluefish, rockfish or flounder.
The Restless Lady with Captain Todd Kurtz and mate Tito fresh off a 495 pound thresher shark caught yesterday decided to do some shark fishing again today and put another huge thresher in the boat. Today it was a 375 pounder that ate a squid bait in 30 fathoms.
Captain Jeremy Blunt of the charter boat Wrecker out of the Ocean City Fishing Center was out putting in some practice for this weekend’s Mako Mania shark tournament and put one in the boat. Wrecker caught this 202 pound mako that I’m sure they’d like to duplicate over the weekend.
The Ocean Princess with Captain Victor Bunting has had some luck with the bottom dwellers this week out on the ocean. Captain Victor has put his anglers on some nice sea bass and some of the first flounder that I’ve seen from the ocean this year.
New Fish in OC inshore charter Baytime Charters with Captain Brad McCabe was fishing the clean water in the bay today and was able to put a couple of flounder on the deck. Captain Brad took a solo trip near the Thorofare where he caught and released two rock and seven short flounder and also boxed this nice 21″ keeper flounder.
Captain Wes Pollitt, mate on the party boat Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins did what any fishing mate would do on his day off…..he went fishing. Wes fished the south jetty with the world famous Roy Rig and caught this beauty of a 33″ keeper rockfish. Roy Rigs are available at Raceway Citgo next to Crabs to Go on the corners of route 50 and 589.
