We had a chilly start to the day this morning, but by early afternoon it was short sleeves and Christmas lights. The ocean was an inviting calm and there was some seriously good bluefin tuna fishing. Captain Dale Lisi of Foolish Pleasures was first to report in at 9:45 AM where he was already 4 for 5 bites on bluefin with some very nice fish in the mix.
Captain Kevin McCabe, Todd Martinek, Jeff Kukel, Mike Giesmann Sr. and Jr and Brendan Hanley of Pure Lure had an awesome day of bluefin fishing on board the private boat Side Piece. The crew used Joe Shutes at the 12 fathom lump to land bluefins of 45″ and 72.5″.
Captain Dave Caffrey and the crew of On the Run paddled off to the bluefin grounds today where they put two fish in the boat of 46″ and 59 pounds, and 68″ and 181 pounds.
Josh Cole caught his first ever bluefin tuna today fishing with Mike Ahfeldt and Jeff Phipps. It was a nice fish too at 67.5″ and 180 pounds.
Big Bird Cropper said rockfishing was a little slow today, but he found the red drum releasing 10 nice sized fish.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star headed off the beach a bit today, but it was worth the trip with some very nice sea bass coming aboard.
