It was a really Beautiful day to be outside today with little wind, awesome temperatures, and sunny skies! It’s my favorite time of year to go fishing!
Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had a great day on the flat calm ocean with a nice pile of flounder and mahi for his crew.
Anglers fishing on Lucky Break Charters with Captain Jason Mumford had an awesome day with flounder. Spanish mackerel, sheepshead and some catch and release shark action.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported a beautiful day on the water with plenty of action for flounder, sea bass and mahi.
David Moore caught and released the first fall red drum that we’ve seen from the Assateague surf last night.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star caught some nice fish on his final Mahi trip of 2026.

Tons of room tomorrow for a flounder/cbass trip. Five to Ten S forcasted..
About as calm a day as you’re likely to ever find this day; one of my old mates came in to help train new crew. Kadin and Forrest both showed excellent promise. Be a while before they really have my style of fishing down, but well beyond basics are covered.
Tried to video Richard, Mike & Tom’s reef-block drop – see what sea bass do as blocks descend and hit bottom. Maybe? Have to get home to see it. With 16 more there are now 184 blocks and 3 pyramids there – and Boy was there a cloud of sea bass above it.
I do mean a LOT of sea bass. Thanks to York Building Products we’re building a lot of block reef.
Then?
Kept paddling of course.
First stop – an almaco jack.
Second – day’s first mahi.
And on it went.
Some spots none – some half a dozen or so.
Mike (imbued with reef builder’s karma, no doubt) landed our largest of the year easily winning the pool.
It’s late for inshore mahi here. Water is still in the upper 70s – if you’ll watch the dolphin video Forrest shot today you’ll see how amazingly clear the water was. (when I find it! WTHeck..) Will take a good bit of wind to mix the water column – to bring cold water up and drive em offshore. Aside an occasional mahi it will be all sea bass & fluke for me for a good while now (unless bluefin show well again!) – past Christmas for sea bass – maybe halloween for fluke..
Time will tell.
