Big Tog, A Lost Trout and Some Flounder in Virginia

Big Tog, A Lost Trout and Some Flounder in Virginia

Man, the wind has been blowing a gale the past couple of days and there has not been a lot of opportunity to take advantage of the spring fishing that has started.  Flounder fishing in OC has been quiet to say the least, but there have been some tautog and stripers caught around the OC inlet and route 50 bridge.  The wind just has to slow down so folks to get out.  Thankfully that looks to happen starting tomorrow so I’m going to give it a go myself.

Before the wind starting blowing Captain Kane Bounds and his crew on Fish Bound saw some good tautog fishing with plenty of fish going in the cooler and some big fish being caught and released.  Most all trips aboard Fish Bound have ended with a limit with the largest fish tipping out at 14 pounds.

Captain DJ Churchill of the Double Trouble has had some good tog fishing as well with some big fish coming by the rail and plenty of “roasters” going in the fish box for his anglers.

Tog fishing has been pretty good in the OC inlet when the wind isn’t blowing 40 miles an hour.  Chris Meister was fishing the north jetty wall near the Oceanic Motel when he landed this nice 17″ keeper.

My buddy “Irish” Eamon was throwing a soft plastic at the 3 R’s in Delaware when he was surprised by this very nice sea trout, or weakfish, that seemed to be lost.

“2 Time” Tommy Hinkle, Evan Horein, “White Trash” Steve and his son Finn caught two keeper flounder fishing in Gargatha, VA today before the wind starting blowing.

Join us for the first ever Fish in OC Fishing Trip and Seminar on board the Angler on Saturday, June 1.  We’re just over 1/2 way sold out and tickets are moving pretty fast.  You’ll be fishing along with me and we’ll have a seminar on the way out, and we’ll also be giving away some raffle prizes.  It should be a great time!  Tickets are $200 each and can be purchased at the link…..Angler Fishing Trip and Seminar
