It was a really pleasant day today. It was mostly sunny all day, temperatures got in to the low 50’s, or close, and the wind dropped out to about nothing. The calm winds were a welcome sight for anglers that have been stuck at the dock for a couple of days, and there were a bunch of them out on the bay and fishing from land taking advantage of the nice weather.
My buddy Big Bird Cropper was one of those boats out on the bay today and he had an awesome trip. Bird called this evening with a report of some really good fishing at the route 50 bridge and inside the south jetty with his buddy Joey Baker. The duo caught 20 throwback sized rockfish and had a double limit of speckled trout. The “specks” were a pleasant surprise and they caught some nice fish from 19 1/2″ to 23″ while fishing inside the south jetty. All of the fish are caught on Big Bird’s world famous “Roy Rig”.
Here’s a picture of Bird with the “Roy Rig” from when he was 15 or 16 years old…..kidding. You can purchase the “Roy Rig” at Raceway Citgo right next door to Crabs to Go on route 50.
I got a couple of photos from my buddy Wes Pollitt who reported some good fishing on their last trip aboard the Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins. There were some limits of sea bass and some nice fish brought over the rail.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there! I hope you all have a wonderful day with your friends and family….we’ve all got something to be thankful for!!
