It was a tough one off the beach today. Not only were the sea conditions rough, the fishing was rough as well. The forecast for Tuesday was calling for SW winds 20-30 knots and seas of 6-11 feet….not exactly ideal trolling conditions. Some boats cancelled trips yesterday, some boats cancelled this morning, and some gave it a shot.
Captain Joe Drosey on board Rhonda’s Osprey out of Sunset Marina gave it a shot today and was rewarded with two nice sized dolphin.
This concludes the offshore portion of my report……
On the inshore front however, The Ocean City Guide Service with Captain John Prather had what I would call one heck of a day. Captain John reports flounder, bluefish, stripers, lots of trips with lots of fish. The pick was slow for flounder with lots of throwbacks, but he did manage two keepers for his morning trip.
Captain John had some action this afternoon at the Rt 50 bridge that was stellar. Lots of school size stripers (under the 28″ minimum) and a good bluefish bite. Some of the bluefish were big too, upwards of eight or ten pounds!
