I had plans to go fishing today, but I chickened out when I felt the northeast wind and the slight chill….plus I had a meeting to go to so I had a good excuse. Today wasn’t terrible by any stretch, but it was a little chiller than it has been lately and there are some nice looking days coming up this week so I decided I’ll head to the Thorofare then.
A couple of my good buddies can’t pick their days all the time so it was out to the bay where the schoolie rockfish have been snapping good the past few days. My very good friends Big Bird Cropper and John Wittmyer from Crabs to Go headed out on Bird’s “Lost Time” today and had a great day of fishing and friendship. Bird knows the bay well so it wasn’t too long and they were catching rockfish on his Roy Rigs. They caught and released 25 between the inlet and the route 50 bridge and then they headed to the flounder hole where Bird caught his first of the season. He’s the reigning Angler of the Year from the ACSA so I’m sure it won’t be his last.
Dave Messick and I are joining Big Bird on his Lost Time tomorrow to film a new episode of Hooked on OC so I hope the fishing is half as good as it was today…..I’m certain the company will be!
