Last Tog of the Year

Last Tog of the Year

This nice 20″ tautog submitted by Bear down at the Oceanic Pier today will be the last tautog that I report on for the year….because the season is closed starting tomorrow.

Today was the final day of MD tautog season and it will be closed until January 1, 2017.  When the season reopens there will be a four fish per person bag limit and the same 16″ size limit.  Winter fishing for tautog on the local party boats can be out of this world.  There have been several state record tautog caught during the winter season, and the world record tautog was caught just a few years ago on the 5th of January, just after the season had opened back up.
