Thankfully we have got some really good sea bass fishing going on right now for the local party boat fleet when the weather cooperates. Being that Maryland tautog season is closed and the flounder have all but completely left the building the good sea bass fishing is keeping these guys….well…..fishing. A strong cold front is pushing through the area and off the beach tonight and the wind really starts to blow tomorrow for a good week. Then we’ve got Christmas so the fleet might not be trying it again until after the holiday. Maryland tautog season opens back up on January 1 and they should be snapping right out of the gate.
I got a report from Captain Monty Hawkins on board the Morning Star telling me about some outrageously good fishing. Captain Monty fished yesterday and had his crew on a boat limit of sea bass in just an hour and forty minutes. They had some really nice sea bass and some of them were even caught jigging steel. There were also some nice bluefish that came over the rail. Captain Monty referred to it as a “wonderful day”. Thanks to mate Nick Denny for the great shots!
