Overnight Tunas and Some Good Bottom Fishing

Overnight Tunas and Some Good Bottom Fishing

It was another absolutely beautiful day out there today with light winds, sunny skies and warm September temperatures.  The inlet parking lot was packed with enthusiastic bikers and the waterways were packed with enthusiastic anglers.  It was a great day to be outside!

Captain Willie Zimmerman of the RoShamBo returned from an overnight trip today and loaded the dock with an impressive catch.  RoShamBo had tilefish, mahi, yellowfin and bigeye tuna for an awesome mid-September trip.

The crew of Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski had a nice offshore trip today with two white marlin releases and a pile of mahi.

Captain Shawn Gibson of the Wound Tight had a nice trip to the ocean for his group with a morning consisting of three white marlin releases and an afternoon with a nice pile of sea bass.

Anglers fishing on board Chasin’ Tides with Captain Chase Eberle had good fishing for two different groups with a bunch of keeper sea bass and some croaker.

Captain Nick Sampson of MobSquad Fishing had a good day of bottom fishing over ocean structure with sea bass, flounder and some bluefish.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break had another great day in the back bay with a morning trip that saw several nice sheepshead and an afternoon trip that saw keeper sized flounder.

Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures put this young lady on her first ever saltwater fish and did it in grand style.  This fat flounder was 23.5″ and just under 6 pounds.

Rich Daiker and Scott Andrews had an awesome day at the route 50 bridge where they had a two man limit of flounder, a bluefish and a keeper sized rockfish.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star saw a smorgasbord of fish on deck today with some very good September fishing.

Northeast winds are usually up to no good where fishing is concerned in the Mid. Yesterday & today’s light noreasterlies, however, were finest kind; made for a pleasant ride as we paddled on off this morning.
Arriving at a newly sunken barge in the Ringmaster Reef Group: Yost, Adie, Mose & John made two accurate drops with a block unit and reef pyramid atop its concrete deck before we pressed on.
From lines-in my anglers were busy. Tried to keep it that way most of the day. Sea bass, of course, would have none of it. Although but a pause, the bite did taper when the current shifted, then picked back up.
Came out of it in good shape with some clients in double digits; had a few decent fluke aboard too. Art’s, in fact, slammed the door shut on the pool..
Nice day.
Cheers,
Monty
